STAGE 2: INVESTIGATING & GATHERING |
The main features of stage 2 are gathering information and avoiding plagiarism through the use of jot notes and proper citing of sources. Teachers should encourage students to use a variety of resources for their research. Specific lessons in access to and use of data bases are helpful at this time. Students will need support in skills for taking jot notes and their developmental understanding of using MLA format for identifying the references they have used.

Record the information for your citation (TITLE, AUTHOR, ETC.) as soon as you start your jot notes. This makes is easier to create your Works Cited list of references later from your jot note pages.
